Frozen Beaujolais


Dish:
Frozen Beaujolais Wine Granite

Ingredients:

1 750 ml bottle Beaujolais wine
cup sugar
cup water
2/3 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions:
1. Boil the sugar with the water and set aside to cool
2. Mix this syrup with all other ingredients and place. in a wide, shallow metal or pyrex baking dish
3. Set dish in freezer and when ice crystals start to form around edges, scrape them with a fork to prevent freezing solid
4. Repeat this step every 30 minutes or so until granite is frozen but broken up into crystals
5. Serve in chilled glasses or bowls with mint and fresh fruit
