TastersGuildNY The Glenrothes Single Speyside Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting

TastersGuildNY The Glenrothes Single Speyside Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting

Thursday, April 8, 2010

Speaker: Ross Hendry, Glenrothes Whisky Ambassador

The Glenrothes has always been universally acclaimed by blenders as exceptional Speyside Malt Scotch. Founded in Scotland in 1879, the Glenrothes is one of only three Speyside Malts to hold ’top class’ status. Only 2% of what is distilled each year, the very finest quality – becomes a Glenrothes vintage. Only a small number of vintages have been released. Each vintage is, by definition, rare and finite, with its own unique taste and personality. We had an unbelievable tasting of Glenrothes extremely rare vintages: 1975, 1985, 1991, the newest mark 1994, plus Select Reserve and Alba Reserve Speyside Single Malt Scotch. Select Reserve and Alba Reserve Speyside tied for Favorite Reserve. 1985 was the Favorite Vintage and, all enjoyed The Glenrothes Blood & Sand Cocktail as an aperitif.
