We tasted some of the finest wines from the world of Lafite. Prices are full markup retail price. We asked for one vote for favorite for Flight II, and Flight III. Amancaya 2011 - Mendoza was the favorite for Flight II, Caro 2010 -Chile was the favorite for Flight III. All liked Bordeaux Blanc/Barons De Rothschild Champagne Brut , Lafite Reserve Special Blanc 2011 and Chateau de Cosse Sauternes. The cheese was provided by Cabot Cheese of Vermont.

Bordeaux Blanc/Barons De Rothschild Champagne Brut
Grapes: 60% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir. Golden in color, with fine bubbles. Aromas of summer fruits, honey and toast. A lovely aromatic sparkler with a long elegant finish.

Lafite Reserve Special Blanc 2011
Grape Variety: 60% Semillion, 40% Sauvignon. Pale straw color, nose of grapefruit and lemon peel. Soft and round on the palate with flavors of orange and orange marmelade. A food friendly and delicious wine.

Blason d'Aussieres 2010
Grape Variety: 40% Syrah, 30% Mourvedre, 20% Grenache, 10% Carignan. Aged 10 12 months, 20% in oak barrels.
Deep color. Nose of pepper, spice, wood, terroir. Fresh, clean, well balanced with a peppery finish. Drink now - 2014.

Amancaya 2011 - Mendoza
Grape Variety: Malbec 40 60%, Cabernet Sauvignon 40 50%
12 months in oak barrels (20% new).
Deep crimson color. Red and dark fruits on nose; plums, red currants, and mint, cedar; vanilla, and spices. Juicy and fat on palate. Well balanced soft mouth feel with good tannins. Deep and aromatic. Can be drunk now and will develop more elegance over the next three to five years. The favorite of this Flight.

Los Vascos Reserve 2010 Chile
75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Carmenere, 10% Syrah, 5% Malbec, Aged for 12 months in 50% new barrels.
Ruby red color. Aromas of plum, cherry, black berry, licorice, and black pepper. Dense, complex and harmonious. Delicious.

Chateau d'Aussieres 2010
60% Syrah, 30% Mourvedre,10% Grenache. Aged 12 16 months, 40% in oak barrels. Deep dark color. Black fruit, blackberries on the nose, Rich, long elegant finish.

60% Malbec, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged 18 months with 60% in new oak barrels. Intense deep red color. Aromas of dark cherries and boysenberries, and cassis. A deep complex aromatic wine with a long finish. The favorite of this Flight.

Grapes: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Syrah, 10% Carmenere. Aged 18 months in new oak barrels. Red Claret color. Aromas of red fruits, spice, cedar, and eucalyptus. Complex, balanced and elegant with a long finish.

Chateau de Cosse Sauternes
Grapes: Semillion 80-90%. Muscadelle and Sauvignon 10 to 20 %. Aged for 16 to 18 months in two year old barrels. Pale gold color. Candied fruits on the nose and concentrated flavors on the palate with hints of honey.
