Marqués de Cáceres is presently managed by Cristina Forner, Enrique Forner's daughter. Cristina was born in the Loire Valley (France) and graduated at the “Ecole Supérieure de Commerce” in Bordeaux where she also took part in various courses at the Oenological Institute. At the age of 30, she arrived in Logroño to join the family bodega, Marqués de Cáceres, for which she is now responsible.

From the outset, prestigious oenologists have supported and co-operated with the bodega. Firstly, Emile Peynaud who was Enrique Forner’s right-hand man, since the bodega was founded until 1992 and now, his successor, Michel Rolland. Both have contributed towards positioning the bodega within the wine sector as a leading company in innovation and wine technology.

It has taken forty years of commitment and efforts to create unique wines and to position Marques de Caceres brand in over 120 countries worldwide. We enjoyed a fun evening tasting 10 of these award winning wines Marques De Caceres Antea Barrel Fermented 2010 was the favorite White. Marques De Caceres Gran Reserva 2004 and Marques De Caceres Reserva 2005 were tied for favorite of Flight II. Guadium 2005 was the favorite of Flight III. And everyone enjoyed the Marques De Caceres Rosada 2011 All cheese provided by Cabot Cheese Vermont.

Pale straw color. Pear, grapefruit and mineral notes in nose, and palate, nice acid, long finish, will be a lovely aperitif or pair with seafood.

Attractive golden color. Fragrant bouquet with notes of minerals that blend with a touch of grapefruit and mandarins. Lively in the mouth with fruit sensations that reveal a fresh acidity. Very pleasant fullness and long finish. To be enjoyed young.

Marques De Caceres Antea Barrel Fermented 2010
Grapes: Viura with a small percentage of Malvasia.
Aged in new French oak, Straw color with pale gold rim, Complex bouquet of fresh fruit, grapefruit and pears with some almonds and mineral notes in mouth. Well balanced, silky tannins with some vanilla flavors. A unique and elegant wine. The favorite of the White Flight.

95% Viura, 5% Malvasia. Grapes are harvested late, making the wine more concentrated and sweeter. White color, more complex tropical fruit in nose and palate, Excellent with Oriental food and goat or blue cheese.

Deep ruby color. Oak-spiced cherry and blackberry on the nose, with complicating notes of licorice, vanilla and dried rose. Dark berry and cherry-vanilla flavors with acidity. Long finish with spice and smoky oak. Tied for favorite.

Marques De Caceres Gran Reserva 2004
(85% Tempranillo, 10% Garnacha and 5% Graciano), was aged for 28 months in French oak and then held in bottle for 4 years before release) Dark ruby color. Complex, fragrant bouquet evokes candied cherry, blackcurrant, tobacco and cedar, with a spicy overtone. Lush and expansive on the palate, offering sweet dark fruit flavors and an exotic floral nuance. Finishes sweet and long, with harmonious tannins and very good clarity. Tied for favorite of this flight.

Aromas of cola, chocolate and ripe berry fruit that roll out the welcome mat. Feels full and tannic, with toasty black fruit flavors accented by espresso and bitter chocolate. Finishes dark, with coffee and licorice flavors. Best from late 2012 through 2015.

18 months in French oak, Pre Phlox-era Vines.95% Tempranillo, 5 % Grenache
14% Alcohol. Very dark, almost black, garnet color. Rich and complex bouquet combining notes of cherries, coffee and tobacco with a depth of soft spice. Very full in the mouth where dense and refined tannins provide a balanced structure that mingles with mature fruit and nice complexity. This wine has the body to develop further in the bottle over years. Choose Gaudium for a special occasion. It will complement all kinds of quality meat, grilled, roasted or served in source, especially suckling pig, roasted Lamb, beef fillet or Iberian style port. A perfect match for Fois Gras. light game dishes and cheese. The favorite of this Flight.
