The Consortium of Montefalco is an association with the role of safeguarding the wines and the denomination 'Montefalco'. The Montefalco Consortium currently has 213 members, representing more than 82% of the certified production of Montefalco Sagrantino and Montefalco Rosso in the most promising denomination of the emerging Umbria region.

10 of the producers best wines were presented.

We enjoyed a fun evening tasting 10 incredible wines from Umbria.

Grechetto 2010 – Scacciadiavoli was the favorite White. Montefalco Rosso DOC 2008 - Scacciadiavoli was the favorite of Flight II DOC wines. Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG 2005 – Adanti was the favorite DOCG. And everyone enjoyed the Montefalco Sagrantino Passito DOCG 2006 All cheese was provided by Cabot Cheese Vermont.

Grechetto 2010 – Scacciadiavoli
Grape: 100% Grechetto. Aged in stainless steel tank, sue lies. Color: light, pale yellow. Nose of apple, pear, lemon and slate. On the palate, round, balanced, with a soft mouth feel. This wine is like a cross between a Sauvignon Blanc and Viognier. This wine compliments fish or antipasto courses. The favorite of the White flight.

Montefalco Bianco 2010 - Adanti
50% Grechetto, 25 % Chardonnay, 25% Trebbiano. Greenish color with golden highlights; fruity, floral nose. Round, long finish with a delicate fruity structure. Young.

Montefalco Rosso DOC 2009 Caprai
Grapes: 70% Sangiovese, 15% Sagrantino, 15% Merlot. 14% Alcohol. Aged 12 months, 70% in barrels, 30% French oak barriques. Minimum 4 months in bottle. Ruby red color. Nose of ripe red fruit with hints of vanilla. Fully bodied, rich, long finish. Best served with red and white meat, cured meats and aged cheeses.

Grapes: Sangiovese 70%, Sagrantino 15%, Merlot 15% 1 year in oak barrels. Intense ruby red color. Fruity aromas with hints of raspberry, spice and vanilla. Palate is soft, round and full bodied.

Montefalco Rosso DOC 2008 - Colpetrone
Montefalco Rosso DOC 2008 - Scacciadiavoli Grapes: Sangiovese 60%, Sagrantino 15%, Merlot 25% 13% Alcohol. Intense ruby red color, with an red cherry, blackberry and plum aroma. Dry and 8 $20.00 warm on the palate, balanced, tannic and a long persistant finish. It can continue to age for 2-5 years.
It is ideal with savory first plates such as risotto, tagliatelle and ravioli. When young, it goes well with second plates such as rare red meat. When aged, it is ideal with game and skewered meat. It is also excellent with hard aged cheese such as sheep’s milk cheese. The favorite of this flight.

Aged in Slovakian oak. Color: Deep ruby with garnet tints; Intense aromas of blackberries and woodland fruit. Bold, mouth-filling, strong tannins with a long finish. The favorite of this flight.

Ruby red color. Aromas of raspberry, cherry and overripe strawberries with a little vanilla spice also apparent in the aromas. Balanced. Complex. Velvet with long finish.

Montefalco Sagrantino Passito DOCG 2006 – Antonelli
The grapes are dried (hence the name, passito means dried) for a period of not less than 2 months, and is then fermented and matured in barrels for about 30 months. Low yield. Intense bouquet of blackberries and small woodland fruits. A lovely wine.
