The Torres family is synonymous with quality the world over. The major producer in Spains' Penedes region, Torres also produces highly regarded award-winning wines in Chile and California. We tasted a dozen fantastic wines. Las Mulas Sauvignon Blanc (Chile) 2011 was the favorite white. Las Mulas Cabernet Sauvignon (Chile) -2008 was the favorite red in Flight III. Ibericos, Rioja - 2008 placed second. Mas La Plana “Black Label” Cabernet Sauvignon- 2007 was the favorite red of Flight IV and 50% liked Sangre de Toro Rose 2010 and everyone liked Aqua D'Or Floralis -NV.

All the cheese was provided by Cabot Cheese Vermont.

Las Mulas Sauvignon Blanc (Chile) 2011
Organic grapes. No pesticides. Pale yellow color. Aromas of ripe tropical fruit. Silky on the palate. Crisp, balanced with good acid and a long finish. The favorite of the White flight.

Vina Esmeralda - 2010
85% Moscatel and 15% Gewurztraminer. Golden yellow color. Aromatic wine with floral aromas of peach, rose and jasmine and spice. Fresh crisp and elegant on the palate with floral, fruity flavors and balance. Excellent with Asian cuisine and light pasta.

Sangre de Toro Rose 2010
35 % Grenache 65% Carinena. Deeper red than most rose. Floral aromas of black fruits. Balanced. Smooth, rich palate of cherries and plums and a long finish.
Should be consumed when young.

Gran Sangre de Toro - 2007
60% Garnacha, 25% Carinena and 15 % Syrah.
Deep dark cherry color. Intense complex aroma of spices, cloves, rosemary and plum and leather. Rich and fruity on the palate with elegant tannins and a long powerful finish. A reasonable house wine.

Ibericos, Rioja - 2008
100% Tempranillo. Deep red cherry color. Black fruit with toasted oak on the nose. On the palate it has black fruit with a lot of tannin and a long finish. Very young, needs time to open up. Placed second favorite in this flight.

Santa Digna Carmenere (Chile) 2009
Cherry color with aromas of blackberry and notes of eucalyptus. Elegant on the palate. More forward fruit, good structure and well balanced.

Dark red color. Aroma of red fruits with spicy notes. Elegant, round tannins on the palate. Well balanced and long finish. The favorite of this flight.

Dark red wine. A powerful and elegant blend. Jam, spice and toasted notes on the palate. Silky tannins with a long finish.

Red fruits such as cherry and cassis and complemented with touches of leather and toast. Lush, incredibly fresh on the palate with silky tannins. A balanced wine with a long finish.

Deep, dense purple color. Intense bouquet with subtle oak - hints of red berries and cherries. Full, elegant and pronounced aftertaste with ripe tannins. A dark and brooding wine which has a very long finish. The favorite of this flight.

Following ancient Medieval techniques, direct distillation of recently fermented white wines, with all their fruity richness. Delicious.
