We tasting 9 of the finest wines of Michele Chiarlo.
Prices are full markup retail price. We asked for one vote for Favorite for Flight I, Flight II, and Flight III and IV. Michele Chiarlo Gavi Le Marne 2017 was the Favorite for Flight I, Michele Chiarlo Cipresse Nizza 2016 was the Favorite for Flight II, Michele Chiarlo Barbaresco Faset 2014 was the Favorite for Flight III and Michel Chiarlo Barolo Cerequio 2015 was the Favorite for Flight IV. All liked Michel Chiarlo Nivole Moscato 2017, The cheese presented was Aged Alpine Cheddar of Cabot Cheese of Vermont. A wonderful time was had by all. All the wines were superb.

Straw yellow color. Intense aromas of white flowers, mint and apricot with notes of peach, and tropical fruits on nose. On the palate it is fresh and elegant, with a silky texture and fine acidity.

Elegant, fresh with the scents of golden apple, acacia flower, citrus and bread crust. Well-structured, fragrant. Good length with a is round and savory finish. Pairs with grilled or roasted white meats, deep sea fish and shellfish. The Favorite of this Flight.

Only from the better exposed vineyards. Intense ruby red color. Nose of red fruit, mature cherry, raspberry and tobacco. Complex structure and fresh softness and roundness on the palate with a lovely savory finish. The Favorite of this Flight.

Michele Chiarlo Barbaresco Reyna 2015
Red berry aromas and flavors with spice notes surround a core of vivid acidity and moderate tannins. Similar in character to Barolo, but more delicate, this Barbaresco has great aging potential. This is a great wine for roasts and game.

Michele Chiarlo Barbaresco Faset 2014
100% Nebbiolo from vineyards of Barbaresco. The soil is greyish-white calcareous marl with bands of veins of sand running through it, rich in minerals among which magnesium and manganese predominate. Faset is refined for a minimum of 2 years, ageing in large casks for 18 months, before final refinement in the bottle. It is a noble wine of excellent character and pleasantness, suited to medium ageing. Color is garnet with brilliant hues. Nose is ample and aristocratic, with notes of dried rose petals, small red fruits and an elegant hint of minerals combined with fine spices. The Faset has great structure, marked minerality with the dense texture of fine tannins. It is elegant and welcoming.

Wild rabbit with Juniper berries, roast pheasant, agnolotti with roast sauce, well-matured cheese. The Favorite of this Flight.

Michele Chiarlo Barolo Tortoniano 2013
100% Nebbiolo. Soil: Calcareous marl clay of sedimentary marine origin from the Tortonian period (9 million years ago); 12% active limestone and a basic Ph. Vinification in steel tanks. 17 /18 days of maceration with the skins, with a soft “shower” system of wetting the cap at a temperature between 32°C and 27°C. Malolactic fermentation in steel. Minimum of 3 years, aged for 24 months in average-sized oak casks before refinement in the bottle. Garnet color with brilliant hues. Complex nose with notes of rose petals, juniper berries and fine spices; On the palate, Ample, structure with a silky texture of tannins which already is balanced in this young Barolo. Remarkable elegance and persistence.

Michel Chiarlo Barolo Cerequio 2015
100% Nebbiola. Situated between the municipal districts of La Morra and Barolo, Cerequio is considered one the most prestigious crus of Barolo. Magnificent vineyards where the soils, exposure and microclimate come together to create exceptional Barolos. Color: Bright garnet with light orange hues. Rich and powerful at first, but extremely elegant with a texture of silky, enveloping tannins; great harmony and long-tasting flavor. On the nose, the wine is complex and intense with great charm, with balsamic notes, violet, small black fruits, truffle and fine spices.
Pairs well with tagliolini with d’Alba truffe, stew, risotto with Barolo, well-matured cheeses.
